Material for wicker and fascine constructions

Material for wicker and fascine constructions

It's not that important, what species or varieties we will use to create the structure and for the fascine (bundles of wicker or other trees used e.g.. to build or strengthen dams, dyke, sharp). It's worth taking a look at the rivers, streams, next to the fortifications of roads and quays. If head willows grow there, from which you want to cut larger amounts of twigs, find an owner, to ask him for permission. Most often, the owners are happy, that someone would cut trees, and the willow that they do not need will find use. You can also ask at the water management offices, road supervision, nature conservation associations, forestry, and also with specialized farmers, engaged in the cultivation of willow. They know, when bushes and trees can be cut. The rules are changing, however, generally the dormant period of the plants is from November to February. The thickness of the willow bars should be from 3 into 7 Cm, and the length to 6 m. Quantity, the thickness and length of the material depends on the type of planned construction of a possible fascine. Gather as much material as possible, and then, right after harvesting, sort it according to the thickness and length. Optionally, sorting can be performed immediately before the binding of the fascine bundles.
