Diseases and pests of cherries
Cherry trees can be attacked by fungal diseases, bacterial and viral.
Of fungal diseases, a large weakening of trees can cause fine leaf spot. Trees affected by this disease lose their leaves in the middle of summer and do not bear fruit almost completely the following year, and during severe winters they freeze. This disease is combated, spraying in spring, immediately after flowering (0,2%) Syllite, and then the treatment is repeated every 14 days in May and June.
Dangerous diseases of cherries also include bacterial cancer. The fight against cancer consists mainly of spraying trees – during the period of bud swelling, as well as in autumn, during the period of leaf fall - copper agents.
Cherries also attack viral diseases that are difficult to combat, therefore, it is important to, to plant healthy trees.
Cherries are also attacked by the soot seed, which shall be combated as described above.
Another pest of both cherries, as well as cherry is cherry-cuddly aphid. Damaged leaves twist strongly, shoots are inhibited in growth and also twisted. These aphids are black or black-brown in color, are shiny. Eggs overwinter laid at the buds. They are fought against, spraying in the leafless period with Crezotol sodium 50-1% or Carboline DNK – 3%. During the growing season, if the pest is present in a small amount, attacked shoots or leaves are cut off, when there is more of it, sprays with such preparations, how: Basudin 25 EC (0,1%), pyrimor (0,05%) or Anthio (0,15%).
