Putting and inserting glass

Putting and inserting glass

1 After the frame is ready, apply a layer of putty thick in the frames 3-4 mm. Place the glass in the frame by pushing it slightly into the putty, trying to press the edges of the glass, not its middle. Support the glass at the bottom with matches, to keep equal spacing.

2 Then arrange what 15 cm pins or glass snags and remove matches. Press them with a glass knife or a small hammer, by moving the tool on the surface of the glass. If you use metal snags, place them in their former holes.

3 Finally, stick a second layer of putty on the outside and smooth it at the right angle (approx. 45°) spatula. Smooth putty with strong, uniform and long movements. If the spatula sticks to the putty, moisten it with water.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND?
• Wear protective gloves when working with glass.
• By measuring the window, in which you want to insert a new glass, check the measurements at different points in the frame, which may not be a perfect rectangle.
• The larger the surface of the glass, the thicker you should use glass.
• Before applying freshly applied putty, it must dry approx 2 weeks.
• Remove traces of putty from the glass after it hardens, for even the slightest pressure could cause shifts.
