Glass replacement
Most types of windows require sealing with putty. On 3,5 m of the current window frame is enough approximately 2 kg of putty. When sticking putty, hold more of it in your hand and squeeze it between your thumb and index finger. There are several species of putty, suitable for wooden or metal frames. You will also need glass pins (for wooden frames) or special snags (for metal frames) holding glass. Modern double-glazed windows have special gaskets to immobilize the glass. Replacement of glass in louvered windows is limited to sliding a properly cut piece of glass into place. To reduce the risk of falling out, you can additionally glue the glass.
After removing the old glass, prepare the frame. Remove and clean the frame holding the glass, prime wooden frames, metal pull with a layer of anortosis preparation.
When you have already placed the glass in the frame, smooth the outer layer of putty with a brush dipped in water. Remove excess putty with a knife. If there are finger marks on the glass, wait until the putty dries, then wash off with white spirit or methyl spirit. Before painting, the putty should dry approximately 2 Weeks.
When painting, watch, so that the paint layer overlaps the glass slightly, otherwise, the putty will dry out and begin to crack.
