Types of window closures

Types of window closures

Swing windows usually have two types of closures. In the first type of closures, the handle is fixed on the window and overlaps the metal pin screwed to the frame. A special kickstand under the bottom edge of the window keeps it in an obtuse position. Both types of closures can be easily fixed with screws.

Sliding windows close with a straight latch
or a slightly more secure brighton closure, having a threaded stem. Both types of closures are screwed to the window frames and sliding sash.

The traditional closure of French windows is an espagnolette valve, running through the entire height of the door, inserted into the holes in the upper and lower edges of the frame.

All the closures described here are not too difficult an obstacle for thieves. If you care about safety, install locks.
