Windows have three main functions: lighting, viewing and ventilation.
Not all panes need to be openable, many windows consist of non-opening fixed glass panes and movable barrels.
The latter are usually the part of the window suspended from one side to the window frame, moved up and down or to the side. If we want better thermal insulation, most typical windows are available in a triple glazed version. Some of the models can be mounted by yourself, but most often you need to use the help of a professional.
Windows also differ in the type of glass used. The most common are ordinary glass panes, however, there are also windows made of specially tempered glass, as well as of cut or dyed glass.
Glass work requires only a few specialized tools. If you want to cut the windows yourself, you will need a glass slicer, as well as a pair of glass pliers.
Glass pliers are used to release small pieces of glass from the edge of the glass or to cut off longer narrow sections after scratching the glass with a glass. The glass knife is used to remove broken glass and old putty from the frame. If you are putting on new window frames, you will need a cone drill that allows you to let the screw heads under the surface. You will also need a putty to fill the resulting holes.
