Swing windows usually consist of two sashes and a small barrel at the top. Larger windows may have more moving elements. The panes can be combined in an arched shape or in a rectangular shape (bay windows).
Sliding windows can be found very rarely. They consist of two sliding frames, one overlaps the other. Each frame is balanced with a hidden weight or kept in balance by a special arrangement of springs.
Tilt windows usually have one wooden frame, which can be rotated around its axis. Their main advantage is the possibility of washing the glass on both sides without going outside. Traditional French windows (Terrace) consist of a pair of full-length glazed door leaves, suspended on hinges and opening inwards. The central edges of the windows are connected to the frames and rebates.
Window replacement
If you are faced with the need to replace windows, you have two options: purchase of an identical window or replacing it with a window with insulating glass.
Many glass companies make windows according to the customer's description, however, they require the help of a professional in mounting. You can also buy ready-made windows, that are easy to install yourself. Such windows can have frames made of four types of material: Wood (that can be stained or painted), aluminium (traditional silvery or anodized finish, also factory painted with acrylic paint), polyvinyl chloride (usually in white) and steel (galvanized or white).
